The Redbury

The Redbury on Hollywood and Vine is as iconic as LA hotels can be. You can bet that members of U2, the Rolling Stones and modern rockers the Arctic Monkeys, at one time or another, have partied in this legendary hotel. And unless you want to join the party, consider avoiding the hotel on weekends, when the inner garden courtyard becomes a happening scene until the wee hours (and all the courtyard rooms are kind of invited to the party whether they like it or not).

The Redbury's massive rooms (or flats as they are called here) are richly furnished and have a very homey feel. And with well-equipped European-style kitchens, you quickly do feel at home in the hotel—but that’s until the parties start, and they will!

Room amenities include massive upholstered sofas, record players with an actual vinyl library and a fully stocked bar (bar—not mini-bar)!

Some rooms also feature furnished terraces, which is where most guests seem to hang out (you’ll probably need to pack a pair of ear plugs to get a decent sleep at the Redbury).

You won’t find traditional hotel staff here—it has more of a family atmosphere, and Redbury staff really do treat you like an extended member of the family.

The Redbury is located in the heart of the Hollywood action and attractions, with Grauman's Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame (think handprints and stars on the ground) just a short walk away—and the iconic Capitol Records building is close as well.

But visitors should know that Hollywood proper is not as glamorous as the stars whose imprints line the sidewalks. It’s a colorful neighborhood and mostly safe, but it has its share of pimps, drug dealers and other vagrants (which arguably make Hollywood what it is!).

One of the true perks of staying at the Redbury is you can easily access it by public transport (from the Hollywood/Vine MTA station), so you could in fact try enjoying LA without a car, something practically unheard of in this sprawling, car-crazed city.
