110 Wireless Road, Lumpini, Patumwan Bangkok
Luxury serviced apartment that doubles as the go-to hotel for Bangkok insiders and savvy global travelers. Rooms here start at 45sqm for the grand deluxe and range up to 120sqm for the 2-BR suite and 160sqm for the 3BR suite.
The 2BR suite option is probably one of the best deals in the city, if you’re traveling with a friend or another couple. You get five-star styling, service and amenities at prices that would not get you a 2-star motel in New York City. And while the rooms are spacious and well-equipped, the custom-built furniture and room accents have a sort of universal contemporary luxury blandness, but this is easily overlooked.
Oriental Residence Bangkok is sandwiched between the Dutch and American embassies, both of which have substantial greenery surrounding them (the best views are actually from the back-facing rooms).
On-site dining options are rather limited at Oriental Residence, and you can’t really walk to anywhere decent from the hotel (one of the few downsides), but the property’s own all-day casual dining restaurant, Cafe Claire, has decent Western food, mainly catering to staff from the nearby American embassy.
The hotel’s outdoor swimming pool occupies one of the lower floors—together with an al fresco bar—and makes for a great place to spend a lazy Bangkok afternoon. It’s breezy and you’ve got all that greenery from the neighboring embassies, so the pool almost has a resort-like atmosphere.
For now, Oriental Residence Bangkok is somewhat off the radar for most travelers (this won't last), so take advantage of the hotel's incredible value while you still can!
